Dear Citizens of Timor-Leste and Friends Around the World,
On this International Women’s Day, I extend my warmest greetings to all women and girls in Timor-Leste and across the globe as we unite under the international theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment” and our national theme, “Women Can Lead in All Areas.”
The story of Timor-Leste is inseparable from the strength and resilience of our women. From our struggle for independence to our ongoing journey of nation-building, Timorese women have demonstrated exceptional leadership, courage, and determination. They have been warriors, peacemakers, entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare providers, and guardians of our cultural heritage.
Our national theme this year, “Women Can Lead in All Areas,” is not merely an aspiration but a call to action. It challenges us to recognize and support women’s leadership potential across all domains – from government and business to agriculture and academia. It reminds us that when women lead, our entire nation benefits from their unique perspectives, innovative ideas, and collaborative approaches.
The path to true equality requires the engagement of our entire society. I call upon men and boys to be active allies in this journey, challenging harmful stereotypes and supporting women’s leadership in their families, workplaces, and communities.
On this International Women’s Day, let us renew our commitment to building a future together and creating a more just, peaceful, and prosperous nation for all.
Leadership knows no gender, and progress requires the full participation of all our people. When we empower women to lead, we elevate our entire nation.
May God bless the women of Timor-Leste and our beloved nation.

Iha Loron Internasionál Feto ida ne’e, ha’u hato’o ha’u-nia parabens ba Feto no Labarik-feto hotu iha Timor-Leste no iha mundu tomak bainhira ita hamutuk ho tema internasionál, “Ba Feto no Labarik-Feto Hotu: Direitu sira, Igualdade, Empoderamentu” no ita-nia tema nasionál, “Feto Bele Lidera iha Área Hotu.”
Istória Timor-Leste nian la bele haketak husi forsa no resisténsia husi ita-nia feto sira. Husi ita-nia luta ba independénsia to’o ita-nia viajen kontínua ba harii nasaun, feto Timor-Leste hatudu ona lideransa esepsionál, koragem, no determinasaun. Ida-ne’e fó hanoin mai ita katak bainhira feto lidera, ita-nia nasaun tomak hetan benefísiu hUsi sira nia perspetiva úniku, ideia inovativu, no abordajen kolaborativu sira.
